Universal Traffic Service Becomes a 100% Employee-Owned Company

Transition ensures UTS will continue to provide the highest levels of service to its clients and carrier partners

Universal Traffic Service has transferred all its stock shares into an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). UTS, a provider of transportation management services, is now 100% owned by its employees.

The ESOP assures stakeholders that UTS will remain independent and focused on providing the highest levels of service.

“For 45 years, our employees have differentiated UTS by going the extra mile for clients,” said Bill Klotz, President of UTS. “We believe the ESOP strengthens and rewards their commitment to our service-first approach.”

UTS was founded in 1979. In 1992, it became one of the first companies in the country to expand into comprehensive third-party transportation management services. It also was one of the first companies in the country to give its clients Internet-based tools for managing transportation.

“Many of our clients have been partners with UTS since the 1990’s” said Klotz. “Their longevity shows the value they find in our services. Our transition to an ESOP assures them that what they value most from our employees is here to stay.”
